On Saturday, November 13, guests gathered at the first Annual Empowering HeARTS Gala & Art Exhibit at the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center at the College of the Canyons. The evening highlighted women in the community who exemplified courage and strength and have contributed to the lives of others. Local artists and writers captured the essence of each honoree through photography and a distinguishing story. A panel of industry professionals judged the pieces and winning stories and photographs were announced that night. All stories and photographs were also published in a beautiful hard cover book that was available for purchase on the night of the evening. Ed Masterson emceed the event and KHTS’ Janice Murray closed the evening with the reading of the winning story. Empowering HeARTS, sponsored by Single Mothers Outreach, is an opportunity for SCV residents to learn the real life stories of extraordinary women from the community through the talents of local writers and artists. Proceeds of the event went to the programs and services provided by Single Mothers Outreach.
