There’s much to do in the Santa Clarita Valley this month, and with the beautiful springtime weather, it’s the perfect time of year to attend many of the wonderful events going on.  Get ready for an exciting and busy May.
We are pleased to feature some of the participants of the Frontier Toyota/Henry Mayo Drive Safe Golf Classic on the cover of this issue.  It will be a fun day on the greens at the much-anticipated Golf Classic on Saturday, May 19 at the beautiful Valencia Country Club, all to benefit the hospital’s emergency room and trauma services.  See opposite page for more details.
Another big event that day is the American Cancer Society’s popular Relay For Life SCV.  Show your support at the overnight event with thousands of others beginning on Saturday, May 19 at Central Park.   For more information on Relay For Life SCV, turn to page 7.  
Approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States have Cystic Fibrosis, an inherited disease affecting the lungs and digestive system.  Get out your walking shoes and join the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as their biggest fundraiser, Great Strides, is set to take place on Saturday, May 5, at Westfield’s Valencia Town Center.  Take a few laps around the mall and help the Foundation take steps to find a cure.  For event details, see page 11.
Don’t put your walking shoes away just yet as the Assistance League will present their 22nd annual Operation School Bell 5K Run/Walk the following day.  On Sunday, May 6, participants will enjoy a day of fun at Newhall Park to benefit the Assistance League’s program, Operation School Bell.  Turn to page 20 for more information.
On the same day, the much-anticipated Taste of the Town will be taking place at Mann Biomedical Park in Valencia.  Enjoy an afternoon of delicious foods, drinks, live music and entertainment to benefit the Child & Family Center.  See page 48 for details.
As you may already know, prom season is here.  Join Hart District’s Project Prom as they will host their 1st Annual Casino Royale Casino Night on Saturday, May 12.  It will be an evening of fun and an opportunity to help make the dreams of going to prom for students who are financially burdened a reality. Turn to page 28 for more information.
Join the SCV Habitat for Heroes for an evening of laughs, as they will host Standup Guys: A Family Comedy Show on Friday, May 18.  It will be fun for the whole family and a great way to help our local veterans.  See page 22 for details on the event.  
There are even more fun events occurring on May 19.  Join the Friends of Hart Park and the Prayer Angels for the Military and several other veteran organizations, as they will host SCV Armed Forces Day Festival at Hart Park in Newhall.  For additional information about the Festival, turn to page 15.
Also on May 19, saddle up as Carousel Ranch proudly presents Cowgirls & Crystals, a Ladies Day at the Ranch.  Guests will enjoy a gourmet barbecue along with a one of a kind shopping experience, wine bar and more.  See page 18 for more details.
