For the second year in a row, Wendy’s of Santa Clarita is launching the Frosty Key Tag program to support local schools in the Hart District. Wendy’s is inviting local residents to purchase key tags at a local Wendy’s restaurant for a dollar. The dollar is donated to the Hart district school that the purchaser chooses, and the key tag entitles the holder to a free Junior Frosty with any purchase on every visit to Wendy’s, until May 31, 2013—that could be as many as 400 Frosties for just one dollar!
During the 2011-2012 school year, several local middle and high schools participated in the Wendy’s Frosty Key Tag Challenge to see which school could sell the most key tags. The winning schools received an additional cash prize from the local franchise. Both Canyon High School and Bowman High School came out the big winners in the contest. Collectively, all Hart District schools raised over $13,000 from their participation in the Wendy’s program.
Rob Montgomery the owner of Wendy’s of Santa Clarita anticipates that this year will be even more successful. “As more people find out about the program, they realize that it is a fantastic way to support their particular school while getting free dessert every time they come to Wendy’s for more than a year. It is truly a win-win situation for our customers, and as a local owner, it means a lot to me to fund a program that is entirely local.”
When asked whether or not this opportunity is open only to local middle and high school students, Montgomery says no. “This year, we’d like to open up the program to any school, public or private, that wants to be included. School officials or parent groups simply need to contact us, and we’ll walk them through how to participate. It is really very easy.”
Wendy’s Key Tags will be available while supplies last and can be purchased at any of the four local Wendy’s locations.
