Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center recently purchased the Acuson S2000, an advanced ultrasound system which offers superb image quality and diagnostics—important features that help visualize the differences in types of breast tumors and reduce invasive procedures.
Special features of the Acuson S2000 ultrasound system include the ability to capture panoramic views of the breast and “elastography” which helps to distinguish tissue composition.
A breast ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless process and the second most common imaging technique used to examine the breast.  In conjunction with mammography, ultrasound images provide a comprehensive scan of the breast which enhances the physician’s ability to make a diagnosis, especially for women with dense breast tissue.
The use of an ultrasound machine in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer has significantly increased in recent years, just as technology has advanced since the Breast Imaging Center purchased its first ultrasound machine seven years ago. 
Now, thanks to generous philanthropic community support, the Breast Imaging Center continues to offer the most up-to-date ultrasound technology that can make a difference in patient care.  The ultrasound system was delivered during the last week of January.
Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center, a service of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, was created through the experiences of breast cancer survivors and designed with a woman’s physical and emotional needs in mind.  The center offers the latest digital technology, highly skilled medical and technical professionals, and input and collegial consultancy from the area’s leading oncologists and other medical specialists.
Designated by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center is defined by quality standards and has undergone a rigorous accreditation process including image evaluations by a team of experts.
Located on the hospital’s campus at 23929 McBean Parkway, Suite 101, in Valencia, the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center has its own entrance, a home-like atmosphere, and friendly staff.
