Pest Control Baits and Poisons

These can include rodent poisons, along with snail and slug baits.  Most of these products are designed to entice animals to eat.  Hiding the box within reach of your pet is not considered safe, because plenty of pets have been known to move furniture or other obstacles to reach the poison.  Rat poisons are anticoagulants, whose purpose is to interfere with the body’s ability to clot blood.

Marijuana Intoxication in Pets

Most people are surprised when they hear of animals needing to be hospitalized after consuming marijuana.  Unfortunately, what people don’t know is that marijuana is very toxic to animals.  Unfortunately, we have seen several cases of marijuana intoxication here at the hospital.

What Vaccines Does My Pet Need?

Vaccination protocols for dogs and cats differ as much as veterinary clinics differ in the way they practice, which in part has to do with the individual veterinarian’s preference and experience.  However, there are guidelines set by the AAHA Canine Vaccination Task Force and the AAFP Feline Vaccination Advisory Panel, both national organizations that have leading veterinary researchers on their boards to advise them accordingly.
