Where there is a will there is a way.  Yes, you can look good in a bathing suit in eight to 12 weeks.  The key is to start today.  The question is how do you do it?

First, you need to set a goal.  Whether it is a body fat percentage or a dress size, you need a goal.  An excellent way to get started is to have a professional take your body fat percentage and help you to set a realistic goal.  You will need weekly or biweekly goals along with your 12-week goal to keep you motivated.  Post this goal in a place where you will see it every day

Second, you need a plan to reach this goal. How many days in a week will you work out?  How many days of weight training will you do and what will your programs consist of?  Will it be a high volume or a high intensity routine?  What kind of cardio will you do and for how many hours a week?  What will your nutrition plan be?  These are all very important questions when designing your plan to reach your goal.

To help you with some of these questions, here are some guidelines to get you started.  You need to do weight training at least two to three days a week for no longer than an hour at a time.  Weight training is the best way to increase your metabolism to help you burn more calories.

You should also include one to two days of high intensity cardiovascular work for no longer then 30 minutes at a time.  Beyond 30 minutes you will become catabolic, lowering your metabolism in the long run.  Cardio can be done either after your weight training or on separate days.  Your nutrition should consist of five meals each including some source of high quality protein.  And make sure you drink lots of water.  Always keep focused on your goal.

These are some general guidelines to start you on your way towards your goal.  It is always a good idea to consult a professional for an assessment and an individual program designed specifically for you.  Good luck and we’ll see you in your bathing suit on the beach.
