Menopause forces many women to suffer from symptoms without the knowledge of how to fight them.  But menopause is manageable when you know the facts.  The following tips will teach you how to conquer the negative effects of menopause and take control of your life.

There is never a good time to have a hot flash, but some times are better than others.  When you are in the quiet of your home or a secluded bathroom, it is nice to have a few moments to freshen up afterwards.  But at work it is not always easy to slip away when you are hit with a hot flash.  You can prepare yourself by keeping a glass of water on hand and avoiding heat.  Your wardrobe can help or hurt the situation as well.  Wear breathable cottons instead of silk.  Keeping a change of clothes at the office is also wise.  Finally, use your lunchtime to give your mind a break, and go on a walk outside.  Taking care of yourself during this transitional phase of life will help you come out on top.  While you feel the brunt of the symptoms, your family can be affected by menopause as well.  Many family problems arise during this phase due to lack of support and communication.  Be open with your family about what you are going through and warn them when you didn’t get sleep or feel unusually irritable.  Gather their support and seek to bridge the gap of misunderstanding.   With your family on your side, you can overcome any symptom menopause throws at you.  Whether you’re traveling by plane, train, bus or car, always keep a cool beverage at your side.  This drink should be water or fruit juice rather than coffee, tea or soda.  Caffeinated beverages can magnify your symptoms.  A plastic bag can store a damp towel or washcloth to help soothe you when the temperature starts to rise.  Traveling in comfort is possible when you are prepared.  In fact, no matter where you are, you can feel great knowing menopause can’t get the best of you.
