Circle of hope 1Introducing the ‘Moe Hafizi Beer Garden.’ Do you remember the Wine Classic event held annually at Cal Arts that featured wineries, artisan food and a dozen private collectors who brought in cases of their own cellared wines to share?  Then there was the Vine 2 Wine event that went for nearly a decade on a slightly smaller and simpler scale?  The two were morphed three years ago, into the new Vine 2 Wine Classic benefiting the Circle of Hope, a local breast cancer charity, and this year, for the first time, it returns to the original Cal Arts venue and also introduces the ‘Moe Hafizi Beer Garden’.

Come to the 2013 Vine 2 Wine Classic on Saturday evening, August 17 at Cal Arts in Valencia.
The event’s return to Cal Arts marks the rebirth of the SCV Wine Classic, which had been held at Cal Arts for 25 years.
Wine Chair of both the Wine Classic and the Vine 2 Wine Classic, Jeff Jacobson said, “We anticipate a sell-out crowd of 750 so, get your tickets online (www.vine2wineclassic.com) before they’re gone!  We’re busy recruiting outstanding wineries to the event, to add to last year’s list of incredible selections. Thus far, we have almost 40 wine tables, including our dozens of library wines, which everyone is invited to sample, at no additional cost. Our local wine collectors pour these outstanding rarities from their personal wine cellars.  And this year we are also featuring the ‘Moe Hafizi Beer Garden’ dedicated to the event’s honorary Chairman, Moe Hafizi, Publisher of The Magazine of Santa Clarita and élite Magazine.”A First for Circle of 1
I asked Moe what he thought of the beer list and he said, “I’m looking forward to trying some of these beers with all of the guests, and I’ll find my way over to the fine wines too – it’s all for a great cause that I’m more than happy to support!”
Jacobson added, “We’re busy tasting dozens of craft brews in order to offer another incredible selection of ales and pilsners.  Naturally, the Garden will have its own beer-friendly buffet dinner as well as musical entertainment.”
The following brews were served in last year’s Beer Garden:
Allagash White Ale, Belgian-style White Ale
Anderson Valley Boont Amber Ale
Estrella Damm Pale Lager, Spain
Fireman’s Brew
Blonde, Pilsner Style Lager
Brunette, German Doublebock
Redhead, Red Amber Ale
Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat
Mission Dark Seas Porter
North Coast Acme Pale Ale
Wolf Creek Brew Pub:
Hopdazed Imperial IPA
Howlin’ Hefeweizen
Unita HooDoo Kölsch, Golden Ale

Jacobson had this last teaser for 2013 tasters: “We’re also featuring a limited number of tastes of the extremely rare 1853 Withwam’s King Pedro V Reserve Port, for an additional donation to the Circle of Hope. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Tickets are $75 in advance and $95 at the door, and are currently available at www.vine2wineclassic.com
