In Memoriam – Maria Acevedo Lucatero
Maria Acevedo Lucatero, 56, born on May 13, 1960 in Ensenada, Mexico, passed away October 3. A beloved mother, wife and local business owner, Maria was cherished by many in this community and is missed dearly by her family and loved ones. Alongside her husband, Maria owned Margaritas Mexican Grill on Valencia Boulevard.
A candlelight vigil was held at Central Park in Saugus. Her family has shared that Maria often loved to walk in Central Park, so it was only fitting to hold the vigil there, where the community she loved could be invited, as well.
Maria has been described as a woman who her family leaned on. An unconditional mother, she had an open heart and cared deeply for her family.
The restaurant she co-owned, and which is now in her husband’s ownership, was loved by many in the Santa Clarita Valley for its authentically delicious Mexican food, welcoming atmosphere and wonderful family. Many have expressed their deepest sympathies and warm memories of Maria through an outpiuring of support on social media from community members and restaurant patrons.
“Thank you to all who sent their condolences and to the lives she touched,” the Saugus family wrote in a public post.
