Contestants Invited to Bring the Heat at 6th Annual SCV Charity Chili Cook-off
This year the first day of spring is expected to come with some serious heat … hot, chili-pepper heat, that is. Forty local chefs will share their favorite chili recipes at the 6th annual SCV Charity Chili Cook-off on March 20th at Wolf Creek Brewing Company.
“The chili cookers we have signed up so far are serious about their recipes. There has been a lot of talk of “secret ingredients” and contestants wanting to win for bragging rights,” said event co-chair Amanda Benson. She, along with fellow co-founder Nicole Stinson, expect this year’s event to sell out. Nicole said, “The SCV Charity Chili Cook-off is a great event to meet up after work with your co-workers, friends and family, taste some spectacular chili’s, enjoy a craft beer or wine, dance, bid on silent auction items and most importantly, raise some money for charity.”
The fee to enter the chili contest is $100. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 chilis, People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice categories and for best decorated booth! For more information, visit http://scvcharitychilicookoff.com/chili-cookers-rules/
Each year proceeds from the event benefit a local nonprofit organization. This year funds will be given to the WiSH Education Foundation to support libraries in William S. Hart District schools. WiSH Education Foundation’s goal towards this campaign is $100,000 and the SCV Charity Chili Cook-off hopes to help in a big way to meet that goal!
Attendees will enjoy live music from The Grizwalds, music played by DJ Silvertunes Entertainment, silent and live auctions and a 50/50 raffle. In addition to 40 chilis taste, Jersey Mike’s Subs and Sweet Beams Ice Cream will be available for purchase. Both vendors are donating a portion of sales back to the WiSH Education Foundation.
The event begins at 6 p.m. and general admission is $25. A limited number of advance-purchase VIP tickets are available for $65, which includes early entry at 5:30, one beer ticket, hors d’oeuvres, VIP area access, VIP valet parking, and a swag bag.
