Million Little – June 2018
“Serenity in the Midst of Chaos”
How do you cope in the midst of chaos? What do you do when you’re in a hostile environment but don’t have the luxury of physically removing yourself from it… When you’re not at liberty to change the very nature of your surroundings?
There in lies the beauty of this young, local detention center, teen girl’s creativity and perspective in spite of just that.
“Being in a place like this (juvenile detention camp) and wishing I could be in a place like that” (referencing her Cherry Blossom Tree painting).
This young girl’s painting is her retreat away from her current surroundings.
When she’s distraught by whatever chaos might be going on around her at any given moment, this Cherry Blossom Tree becomes her refuge, her “happy place”, the safe haven to allow her mind’s eye to drift away even for but a few brief moments.
This sanctuary, this place of beauty, this Cherry blossom Tree… becomes her escape.
Here at Million Little, we work to transform the lives of at-risk children and families through the power of Creativity.
One of the primary facilities we’re able to do that with now on a consistent basis is the local all-girl Detention Camp in Santa Clarita.
You can help us continue to make remarkable changes in the lives of these girls by donating your time, resources, or making a financial contribution of any amount on our donation page at www.MillionLittle.com.
