Comedy All Stars Hit the Stage for Comics for the Cause Benefitting the Youth Project
Curt Kravitz with Bay Equity Home Loans along with Anita and Jim Lombardi with Federal Escrow, Inc. presents the 7th Annual “Comics For The Cause,” to benefit The Youth Project. For one night only, comedians Jon Reep, Taylor Tomlinson and Jesus Trejo will grace the stage for this comedy special (along with a pre-show VIP meet and greet event). Comics For The Cause will be held at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons on August 14. Past comics have included: Billy Gardell (Mike & Molly), Jay Leno (The Tonight Show), Howie Mandel (America’s Got Talent), and other famous comics from HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central such as Bryan Callen, Cristela Alonzo, John Heffron, Tammy Pescatelli, Wendy Liebman, Drew Lynch, Maz Jobrani, Nikki Glaser, RodMan, Drew Lynch.
Jon Reep is a nationally touring comedian whose contemporary country point of view has won over legions of fans in comedy clubs, on TV and in film. As a stand-up he’s built a following through his hilarious comedy specials and a winning appearance on Last Comic Standing. As an actor, he just wrapped a role in Tig Notaro’s Netflix Series One Mississippi and guest starred in an episode of Black-ish. He’s also appeared in Eastbound and Down, the feature film Into the Storm, and may be best known as “Raymus, the pot smoking farmer” from Harold and Kumar: Escape From Guantanamo Bay or as “Hemi Guy” from Dodge’s popular ad campaign.
Taylor Tomlinson commands the stage with a honed and authentic point-of-view that combines her rock and roll attitude with a sly darkness and self-deprecation. Taylor started doing stand-up at just 16 years old and she is one of the country’s youngest currently touring headliners, delighting audiences coast-to-coast with her sharp crowd work, biting wit, and wonderfully self-deprecating point of view. Taylor has been featured on Conan, MTV’s Safe Word, Comedy Central’s Adam Devine’s House Party, was a top ten finalist on season 9 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and was recently honored as a New Face at the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival. Tomlinson co-hosts The Self-Helpless Podcast and her Netflix 15-minute special is set to air in the summer of 2018.
Jesus Trejo, born and raised in Long Beach, CA, was most recently named one of Variety’s Top 10 Comics to Watch 2017. A regular at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, Trejo often appears on Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, and can be seen on Adam Devine’s House Party, Season 2 of Stand Up & Deliver, Uproarious, and as a recurring cast member on TBS’s sitcom Sullivan & Son. Last summer Jesus was selected to be a New Face comedian for the prestigious 2016 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.
The VIP Party starts at 6 p.m., Comedy Show begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40/55 are on sale now at HelpNotHassle.org. *VIP Party is additional $35, limited space.
