I love to share engagements! It’s such a joyful time in a couple’s life and I believe even more special when you see a family come together. My dear friend of more than 20 years and her daughters received the most precious gift over the past Independence Day when Matt Katan asked Jaisa Creps to become his wife. Jaisa shared photos and a caption on social media: “Today, Matt made me the happiest woman in the world. The girls and I love you so much. Thank you for loving us unconditionally and promising not only me but these two girls who love you so much forever.” – Jaisa Creps, (soon to be) Katan
My next bit of good news comes from another childhood friend. She is the epitome of courage and strength. After losing her son Blake, she set out on a path of commitment to herself to maintain her strength for her daughter Kendall, her husband as well as honor Blake’s memory. Since losing Blake, Jess has lost more than 30 pounds and recently participated in the Independence Day Classic 1K, 5K, 10K & 15K.
“I’m running in the 10k SCV 4th of July parade tomorrow! I lost my son, Blake, five months and 14 days ago! I’m running this in honor of him! He’s inspired me to be a better person in so many ways! He’s changed my life for the better and I miss him terribly! Whenever I run I feel closer to him, it’s like he’s flying next to me!” Jessica Jordan
Who doesn’t love when the younger generation shows ambition and potential. Local resident Dianne Walker and her grandson Jesse saw the news about the recent Sheriff’s Station groundbreaking and it inspired Jesse to make some building plans. The two shared:
“My grandson, Jesse, decided that policemen, firemen and EMT personnel should all be in the same building. We proceeded to design what he envisioned. His first area is the hospital/ambulance entrance, seating area and a bed for the injured. The second area is a large garage for fire trucks and police cars. The back area holds a large kitchen, appliances, tables and chairs to accommodate a lot of hungry guys (and gals). The west end has space for cots and the east end contains a computer room. An exposed ladder leads upstairs. Why? He wanted a helicopter pad on the roof. We read about the new Santa Clarita Sheriff Station that is under construction on Golden Valley Road. We wonder if someone needs to see our plan. And, guess what? It will have a helicopter landing area!”
