Autumn Wonders Exhibit
Santa Clarita Artists Association’s new show, Autumn Wonders, will open on September 7, with a free reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The exhibit will run from September 7 to October 28.
The public is invited to meet the artists; sample tasty hors d’oeuvres, wines and dessert; and view fabulous new art, including well-made designer craft items.
Howard Marcovitch’s underwater photography will be displayed at this exhibit. As Facilities and Logistics Chair for SCAA, he sets up all the gallery shows as well as all outside venue shows. Lighting and panel displays are very important to show the artists’ work and he strives to give the art the best viewing possible.
About his wonderful diving photography, Marcovitch said, “I was hooked by the very first dive lesson. 1968 proved to be a very good year that changed my life. Learning to dive and eventually teaching scuba has made exploring the oceans a dream come true. My wife, Cheri, says I am safer in the water than on land. She never worries about me if I am in water. I am always ready for the next adventure.”
Since retiring from an education career as an administrator, Marcovitch has traveled to some very incredible places: Cozumel, Fiji, Tahiti, North Carolina, Florida, Bahamas, Channel Islands, Guayamas, Bonaire, Australia, Palau, Vanuatu, and most recently to the Solomon Islands. He also serves as President of the Santa Clarita Dive Club.
“My wife and I are long-time members of the SCAA. We share the Lifetime Service Award and the Richard Huff Founder’s Award. We have two beautiful daughters and two grandchildren. Life is good and I cannot wait to travel to someplace new. Hope you will come and visit our SCAA Gallery which is located on 6th and Main Street in Newhall where I proudly have some of my photos on display and for sale.”
SCAA Art Gallery is located at 22508 6th St. in Old Town Newhall, between Railroad and Main. The gallery is open: ‘Senses Thursday’ and all Fridays: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday: 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Watch for signs along Main Street announcing gallery openings.
SCAA is the only non-profit fine art association in Santa Clarita since 1989. For inquiries, see www.SantaClaritaArtists.org.
