Spotlight Our Youth: Miranda Raitt
Miranda started ATA Taekwondo at the age of five at Gold Medal Martial Arts in Santa Clarita. Through the Tigers program, she blossomed as a Martial Artist and started climbing the belt ranks. As she entered the Karate Kid program, at age six, we knew competition was exactly what she needed, earning her first California State Titles at age seven. Miranda earned her first-degree black belt at age eight. One of the youngest at that time to earn such a title through Gold Medal Martial Arts.
Taekwondo has taught her much more than the sport. Through GMMA’s leadership program she has learned respect, perseverance, and a never quit attitude. She continues to rank up, now a third-degree black belt and junior instructor.
This year before her 16th birthday she reached the highest level, 2018 World Champion in two divisions, competing against the top 10 girls in her age division from all over the World.
As well as Taekwondo, at 5’9 Miranda is also an Honors athlete and Volleyball player. As a Junior, she is the starting opposite on the Canyon Varsity Volleyball team this year and LAVA club Volleyball.
Miranda is hoping to play volleyball in college, study Science and continue with her Taekwondo studies, training and teaching kids while working towards receiving her fourth-degree black belt and beyond.
