The Santa Clarita Veteran Center Ready to Serve
Activity at the Santa Clarita Veteran Center, sponsored by the Veteran Services Collaborative, continues to provide information about new services and the expansion of current efforts, including the following tidbits:
Jeff Stabile, who began his duties as Executive Director on November 1, 2018, is already greatly enhancing several areas of service that the Collaborative provides to Veterans and their families. Outreach has begun to many local entities which might be willing to assist the local community to enhance the lives of those who have served our country.
Collaborative member, Mental Health America is renovating the space right next to the Veteran Center and should be ready for business before the beginning of December. This means a greater ability to serve and accommodate those veterans and their families in need of assistance. A great opportunity to collaborate with the Veteran Center.
As more and more veterans and their families drop in to take advantage of our wide array of referrals, our food pantry has also expanded its volume, and we also now are making available the use of walkers, wheelchairs, mobile scooters, and knee scooters. If any veteran needs use of these items on a short-term basis, you can drop by and arrange to borrow any of them at no charge.
As a special upcoming feature, be sure to attend the book signing at the Veteran Center on December 10, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., where author, attorney, and veteran Richard Tarlow will be present to autograph copies of his current effort, “Murder and The Marine,” based on a true story. He was also featured on the October/November cover of élite Magazine.
Upcoming events include a Super Bowl party, a backpack walk during the Memorial Day weekend, and other activities to enliven the community.
Drop into the Veteran Center any time to see what’s available. Look over our Warriors’ Wall to read biographies of local men and women who have served their country. If you’re a veteran and not on the wall, we can make it happen.
