Why Should I Change My Password Every 90-days?
I know you hate it. We all hate it. You log into your account and are told its time to change your password. You cringe for a minute, try something quickly, press update and the new password doesn’t meet the security requirements. Frustration sets in.
“Why must I change my password?”, you think to yourself, “This is so dumb!”
Here is why, and you’re going to thank me.
On any given day hundreds of websites and customer databases are breached or hacked, exposing customers’ data, including email addresses and sometimes passwords (encrypted or not). Hackers then use these databases of email addresses and associated passwords (even if they are encrypted) with clever scripts to try and login on other websites around the internet, i.e., Facebook, banking websites, retailers, etc.
It gets worse. If you use the same password on several websites, then this can be very dangerous, and a hacker will easily gain access to all your accounts, steal your information and possibly empty your bank accounts.
To see if your information has been exposed and your information leaked, visit this website and check the email addresses you have used in the last 10 years.

Write down the places your information has been exposed and the passwords you used for those accounts. Login and change them if you haven’t already. Make a note of the other places you may have used those same password(s) and update those accounts as well.
If you struggle with creating new passwords, try using a small phrase, like “I <3 Ice-cream!” or “DogsR4Me-444”. If you want to add a little extra security to your passwords, make each unique by simply adding the account info, for example “DogR4Me-44-twitter” and “DogsR4Me-44-favebook”.
So, in summary, old passwords may eventually get hacked and be used against you!
