Chiquita Canyons Recycling Awareness and Education Program
Chiquita Canyon has a recycling awareness and education program for the residents of the Santa Clarita Valley. The following items are accepted: mattresses, electronic waste, household hazardous waste, white goods, and metals.
For more information, residents can call Chiquita Canyon at 661-257-3655 or visit www.chiquitacanyon.com for more information on the recycling and education awareness program.
“Chiquita Canyon is available to help residents of our Valley to properly recycle certain items,” stated Steve Cassulo, District Manager of Chiquita Canyon. “Residents can find more information about our recycling services at our local libraries or visiting our webpage.”
Permitted for more than 50 years, Chiquita Canyon is a regional landfill that provides the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding Los Angeles communities with environmentally safe and efficient waste disposal services. Chiquita Canyon is located in Castaic, California, approximately 3 miles west of the Interstate 5 on State Route 126 in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Chiquita Canyon, like other solid waste landfills, over time generates gases which are safely converted into a valuable source of clean energy. Chiquita deploys a state-of-the-art gas recovery system to collect and convert the gas, generating clean energy for 10,000 homes.
