Soroptimist of Valencia’s 9th Annual Gentlemen for a Cause Team Edition
When it comes to fundraising, SIV hit it out of the park with this year’s Team Edition. Soroptimist of Valencia is mixing it up and has thrown us a curveball for the 9th Annual Gentlemen for a Cause; Team Edition. Twelve teams of local gents have thrown their hats into the ring to see who will be the last man standing. The teams will face-off in a series of fun-filled competitive games, including Trivia with Budds at Pinot’s Palette, bowling at Valencia Lanes and go cart racing at MB2, leading up to the main event; a cornhole tournament and live auction at Wolf Creek Brewery on March 3, 2019 at 3 p.m. The teams will be competing to raise money for a local charity of their choice, and to support SIV’s Dreams programs; Live Your Dream cash award program and Dream It, Be It Career Support for young girls. The teams will include gentlemen from law enforcement, and local businesses in Santa Clarita Valley. Get your tickets to the main event before it sells out.
The Live Your Dream program is Soroptimist International’s major award project. The awards improve the lives of women by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. Each year, Soroptimist clubs in 19 countries and territories assist women in overcoming personal difficulties and improving their lives through education and skills training. The women may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, including books, childcare and transportation. Club recipients become eligible for additional cash awards at other levels of the organization, including three $10,000 finalist awards.
Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls is a free conference developed to empower high school and junior high girls to become strong, successful adults. Participants gain mentoring from professional female role models, career education, resources to begin setting career goals, and inspiration to live their dreams!
