Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley Offers Scholarship and Grant Awards Designed To Empower Women
Virginia Wrage Scholarships assist mature women who have encountered circumstances that significantly impact their lives. Consideration is offered for single mothers and others returning to school at mid-life to acquire skills to support themselves and their children. Some are victims of domestic abuse while others are on the verge of becoming homeless. Due March 30.
Three young women, ages 16 to 19, who demonstrate excellent leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic cause will receive Young Women in Public Affairs Awards. One awardee’s application will be forwarded to the District level for $1,500 consideration; the winning application will be forwarded to Zonta International for one of ten $4,000 awards consideration –a potential of up to $6,500 total. Due March 22.
Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship is offered to Women of any age pursuing a degree from a college or university for the third or fourth year of undergraduate study or pursuit of a master’s degree which will result in a business-related degree. The goal is to improve the professional status of women to obtain knowledge and skills that will lead from the “classroom to the boardroom”.
$1,500 is offered by the Club – with a potential to receive $2,000 at the District level; the winner will be considered for one of six $8,000 awards from Zonta International – a potential of $11,500 total. Due April 13.
Women in Technology Scholarship – Women need to have an active role in technology and technological developments and pursue education, career opportunities and leadership roles in technology for equality in the workforce. The Club offers a scholarship for $1,500; with a potential of $2,000 at the District level; winner to receive one in six international scholarships selected for an amount of $8,000; winner considered each –potential $11,500 total. Women of any age, pursuing a technology degree or closely related fields are encouraged to apply. Check www.scvzonta.org for application due date.
Community Grants program provides an opportunity for local non-profit organizations to apply for funding for projects that will improve the lives of women and girls. Submissions are due no later than Friday, April 12.
