Windfall Donation Received by SC Veteran Services Collaborative
Our expanded VSO service, helping veterans with benefit claims, on Monday mornings as well as our usual Saturday mornings, is well under way.
We have been blessed with a windfall donation from AMS Fulfillment, as they have now provided approximately 50 to 55 pallets of merchandise to be distributed to local Veterans and First Responders. The items are now warehoused and being sorted into categories. Dates for distribution will be announced shortly.
As if that was not enough, we also learned that the Collaborative has been awarded a grant from the California Mental Health Services Authority, to provide a conference program dealing with Veteran issues during the transition from military to civilian life. The program will be held on June 15, and details will be released shortly. This is a free program for local veterans and their families, with featured speakers and a complimentary lunch.
The Veteran Center on Lyons now features framed photo biographies of over 120 local veterans, so why not drop by to take a look, and you can arrange to have your story added to the collection.
We now maintain a complete variety of walkers, wheel chairs, knee scooters and oxygen tanks for loan to veterans, so no need to buy these items for short term use.
We’re growing, and membership is increasing, so if you’re interested in helping your local veterans, drop by the Veteran Center and talk to someone about signing up. It’s free.
