Offering the Best of the Old and New
It’s fitting that both of the words “old” and “new” are within Old Town Newhall, Santa Clarita’s premier arts and entertainment district. The Old Town Newhall area offers visitors a unique blend of historic charm and modern dining, shopping, entertainment and soon, rooming options.
First, let’s begin with the nostalgic charisma of Old Town Newhall. The area is a wonderful place to learn about Santa Clarita history. Spend a few minutes walking the Walk of Western Stars, Santa Clarita’s version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame but with a focus on Western film, television and radio stars. Or, spend half of your day visiting the William S. Hart Museum, a beautiful Spanish Colonial Revival style mansion and former residence of a famed silent film actor. If you’re in the area with kiddos, be sure to stop by the Old Town Newhall Library. Although not a historic site, the gorgeous two-level library includes a Heritage Room and historic photographs and is a wonderful place to read a book, stroll through an art exhibit, or participate in a free library program.
If you’re searching for new and exciting – Thursdays@Newhall is where it’s at. The event series transforms Main Street from a bustling retail and dining destination by day to a thriving arts and entertainment district by night. Every Thursday evening, stop by Main Street to enjoy rotating, free weekly entertainment and nightlife fun including block parties, jam sessions and music showcases – all for free!
Old Town Newhall will soon offer even more options for entertainment and dining with three major projects under construction. At the corner of Main Street and Lyons Avenue, the highly anticipated Laemmle Newhall is officially under construction. The art-house movie theatre will provide seven screens for foreign films, film festival award winners and classic movies. Adjacent to the new theatre Newhall Crossings, a mixed-use project, is also currently underway and once completed will provide over 20,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space and 47 residential units. Just down the street on Railroad Avenue you’ll find Hotel Luxen, a 43-room boutique hotel that is also being built.
This summer, explore everything Old Town Newhall has to offer. Visit www.OldTownNewhall.com to learn more!
