One of the world’s most beloved musicals is coming to Santa Clarita. Running July 20 through August 11, Santa Clarita Regional Theater will present Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at the College of the Canyons.
The show, which debuted in 1972 in Scotland, has enjoyed several successful stage revivals and a popular film version starring Donny Osmond. While Osmond was not available for our local production, the cast is filled will SCV greats, including Canyon Theater Guild veteran Jill Scott and Valencia High senior Abigail Thomas double cast as the Narrator, Oak Hills student Nolan Bartol and Hart High student Joey Negrete as Joseph. Sam Hyde, who starred as Gaston in last summer’s production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’, will play Pharaoh.
Director Ingrid Boydston said she loves the Bible-based story of Joseph, “because of its message and the way [the show] delivers that message, that whatever happens to you in life, God can turn it to good.”
This Broadway show takes a myriad of talent and brings it to life. Boydston said everyone will leave this show feeling happy and uplifted.
“The show has the best ending you could wish for,” said Boydston. “There’s something in it for everyone.”
Tickets prices are $12 to $29. For ticket reservations, call the Box Office at (661)799-2702 or visit www.canyontheatre.org/joseph.
The Andrews Brothers
From the author of the smash hit ‘The Marvelous Wonderettes,’ the Canyon Theatre Guild presents The Andrews Brothers. When a USO show is threatened with cancellation because a famous trio of singing sisters fails to show up, it’s up to three persevering stagehands to fix it.
Colin Sickafoose, a multi-talented actor who plays one of the Andrews Brothers, shared why no one should miss this event: “It’s a throwback to good music that everyone can enjoy. It’s hysterical and it takes the Andrews Sisters and gives them a new twist.”
Playing August 10 through September 7, this show is packed with 1940s music and popular songs made famous by the Andrews Sisters, paying tribute to the heroes of World War II. Classics, such as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” “Three Little Sisters,” and “Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive,” make this show enjoyable for the whole family.
Showcasing a wonderfully talented cast, this show is sure to captivate audiences with its stellar harmonies and humor.
Tickets are available for $19 to $22. For ticket reservations, call the Box Office at 661-799-2702 or visit www.canyontheatre.org/andrewsbrothers.
