Summer Allergies
Summer is here but that doesn’t mean allergies have to tag along! According to the CDC, more than 50 million Americans suffer from seasonal allergies each year. The doctors at Exer Urgent Care, sat down with Santa Clarita Magazine to debunk a few allergy season myths and provided some useful tips to manage them.
Exer Urgent Care is the ER alternative staffed with ER Doctors to get you feeling better, faster. All ten Exer facilities have on-site X-ray, Lab, Pharmacy, IV and are staffed with seasoned ER Doctors who can treat over 80 percent of cases seen daily with little-to-no wait time for a fraction of the price.
The Exer teams have seen it all when it comes to allergies and helped debunk some well-known myths. Flowers causing seasonal allergies is a common misconception. It is actually rare for anyone to be allergic to flowers themselves. The pollen produced from oak trees, birch trees and Bermuda grass are the most common causes of allergies. If dealing with pollen allergies, it is best to limit your time outdoors, especially in the morning when Pollen counts are typically highest.
Another common myth is that “short-haired pets will not cause allergies.” On the contrary, pet hair will not cause an allergic reaction, but their saliva, urine and skin might. Pets regularly release allergens from their bodily fluids into the air. A great way to prevent the spread of allergens throughout the house is to change out air flow filters typically found in central air conditioning systems quarterly or monthly.
If your allergies are causing irritation and discomfort, come be seen by our expert medical team. All locations are currently offering allergy testing and vaccinations, making it that much easier to protect yourself and combat allergy flare ups.
Exer Urgent Care clinics are open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and last patients are registered at 8:30 p.m. For more information about Exer and our locations, visit www.ExerUrgentCare.com.
