Harvest Festival Features Pumpkin Cooking Contest, Pig Races, Food Trucks and more – Gilchrist Farms
Gilchrist Farm is excited to announce the fourth Pumpkin Patch and Harvest Festival this October beginning Saturday, September 28 through Halloween, daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
We are bringing back this year the Pumpkin Cooking Contest, last year we decided to partner with some local chefs and culinary schools to offer a Pumpkin Cooking Contest and this year it is on Saturday, October 6 with judging at 2 p.m. There will be cash prizes for the winner of each category and $200 for the grand prize winner. More importantly-major bragging rights! Contest categories include: Main Dish, Desserts, Miscellaneous and Youth Categories. Judging takes place Saturday, October 6 at 2 p.m. Entry forms, rules and up-to-date details online at www.gilchristfarm.com.
Returning this year to the Harvest Festival are goat milking demonstrations, live entertainment and music, local dance and studio performances, bake sale fundraisers, caramel apples, local vendors and artisans, pumpkin painting and farm crafts, face painting, pony rides, wagon rides, petting zoo, straw bale maze, all kinds of pumpkins, corn stalks, Pig Races, a Straw Slide, Food Trucks, and to enhance the Bake Sale Fundraiser for local non-profit groups we are adding Chicken Splat Bingo! This fun game is a live action bingo, where the chickens call the shots by “splatting” on bingo squares. We’ll also have a pumpkin cannon and shooting games.
We are also continuing to offer free admission to the Straw Bale Maze with a Food or Necessity Donation for the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry.
Free parking. Free admission. Individual activities are mostly $5, with a value pack available. Special scout and group activity packs available.
