SCV Sheriff Foundation Completes 2019 With Their Annual meeting and dinner.
Wrapping up the year at their Annual Board meeting with dinner at retiring President’s Ken Wiseman and wife Betty-Lou’s home, the Sheriff’s Foundation Board first addressed their heartfelt support for the families that were impacted by the Saugus tragedy. A unanimous decision by the board and also agreed to by the Board of the SCV Search and Rescue Team to contribute $10,000 to the families of the those that were injured or killed in the tragic incident. Both organizations agreed to fund these contributions from monies raised this year at the Sheriff Foundation and Search and Rescue Annual Golf Tournament. Ken Wiseman commented, “We are well aware that while the tragic event had passed, the physical and emotional toll will continue indefinitely. Both boards wanted to send a message to the families that their loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers, and that the youth impacted by this event, whether passed or on a road to recovery, are now part of who our community is, an impetus to make changes for our future, an impact on how we will look at each day, and how we will reflect on our past.”
Also occurring at the annual meeting was a discussion about the upcoming approval for the 2020 operating budget, and the election of officers. Ken Wiseman stepped down as President after serving in that role for over 8-years, and Gloria Mercado-Fortine was elected President. Neil Fisher continues as Treasurer, Steve Leach and Jim Biscaluz as Vice Presidents, Cookie Diaz as Secretary and Ken will continue on in the role of Policy Chair. Station Captain has always been the Chairman of the Foundation, and Captain Rob Lewis will continue in that role until his newly announced promotion results in his replacement.
