Canyon Theatre Guild Go Online!
When the Canyon Theatre Guild moved its Spring Workshops online, directors Jennifer Teague and John Lucewich were sailing in uncharted waters.
“We decided to go for it, and the experience turned out amazing! We learned so much, and the kids begged for more. So, we created an entire Online Summer Program for kids of all ages and schedules with options to participate in multiple classes – a first for us.” commented Ms. Teague.
FIRST ACT (4-6) sing and dance to some of their favorite songs and create puppets to bring their show to life!
Our CTG KIDS (7-10) and our JUNIORS (10 – 13) can participate in two different shows written and designed for remote performance:
The Show Must Go OnLINE is the hilarious story of a group of passionate students desperate to keep their annual musical alive…online!
Cosmic Chaos!: The Day the Tri Annual Intergalactic Universal Olympic Space Bowl, Galaxy Cup, Dance, Chili cook-off and Marathon Stood Still features aliens from across the Galaxy converging on the home world of Zornoff for this most prestigious event. Unfortunately, the planet’s force field is broken – forcing the arriving participants to park in space until it is fixed! But Marathoners grow weary, Dancers lose their groove, the chili is burning, and radiation from a nearby nebula is causing trouble!
For the CTG STARS (13-17) in Strangely Distant in Awesome Town, staying home has become the new normal, and our town has never been quieter. Unfortunately, the supernatural does not rest. When strange occurrences begin happening within the homes of SCV, local urban legend Athena Jones must figure out what’s happening before it’s too late. Check your connection, because this online adventure may be the last video conference you see.
IMPROV! For ages 7-10 and 11-17. Students learn the fundamentals of improv and conclude their workshop with a show!
Every participant receives feedback from their auditions, creates their own costumes, props, and even their own sets. “We are excited about this creative aspect of our online workshops!” said Ms. Teague.
We understand the hardships our current mandates have created, so we created the CTG Summer Online Scholarship Fund to help with partial and full scholarships for families in need. If you would like to donate to the SOSF, call or email Jennifer@canyontheatre.org. Donations are tax deductible and will bring a unique and amazing experience to a child that otherwise wouldn’t be able to participate.
