Troops Departing With Families ‘Operation Red, White & Blue’ Care Packages Continue to Hometown Troops During the Coronavirus Pandemic
Prayer Angels for the Military needs help getting care packages out to local troops overseas. The COVID-19 quarantine, along with the financial hardships that followed, has had a severe impact on supporting Hometown Troops on deployment. After 17 years, the monthly community assembly days for preparing care packages had to be cancelled. Fundraising opportunities stopped, very few item donations are coming in, and the tax-deductible funds needed for shipping has all but stopped.
Package assembly will continue at the Team Gerstel family residence, until it is safe to include the community again. Care packages are still going out to local troops overseas, as donations come in, but only a few are being sent out weekly, at this time.
A special ‘Thank You’ for remembering our hometown troops goes out to local business O’Reilly Auto Parts, on Lyons Ave. in Santa Clarita. District Manager Josh Kennedy continues to support SCV troops, a great way for local businesses to give back to the community.
Help out with a donation, if you can. We do realize that many are financially impacted, and shopping trips are limited, so please do not put yourselves at risk, and only help if you can. Smaller packages can be sent, perhaps not as often. Receiving cards and letters means so much. Troops are so appreciative, just to be remembered, especially from their own hometown! Tax-deductible funds for shipping are always needed, and now with COVID-19, funds are also needed to purchase bulk items for the boxes. Donations can be made thru PayPal online: www.prayerangelsforthemilitary.com, or payable & mailed to: Prayer Angels for the Military, 21609 Oak Orchard Rd, Newhall, CA 91321.
Thank you cards and letters of appreciation are needed. These will go right inside the care packages, sent to them from their own hometown. Cards can be mailed to the above address, or dropped off to the 24/7 donation bin/same address.
Contact Suzon or Dale Gerstel: 661 799-8865 or email: prayerangelsforthemilitary@yahoo.com. Get additional info: What is needed most, community service hours (at your own home), other ways to help, or to add your troop to the care package list.
