Blue Star Ranch Receives Visit From Board Of Supervisors

by | Aug 27, 2020 | Community

Blue Star Ranch was hit hard by the COVID-19 shut down. Although classed as an essential business, the shut-down of our fund raisers put us in a perilous position. In addition, many of our corporate supporters also had to cut back. We provide our services free to veterans, spouses and children are included when applicable.
Our therapy horses are the key to this unique therapy. Equine Therapy has proven to be more successful than traditional “talk therapy” for our veterans with Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder (PTSD) and other mental health issues.
But Blue Star Ranch received a special visit from Kathryn Barger, Supervisor, Fifth District Office Representatives. Sr. Field Deputy Stephanie English, Assistant Field Deputy Natalie Vartanian, and Roberto Alvarez, Assistant of Military and Veteran Affairs visited Blue Star Ranch where they met the staff (including therapy horses), volunteers and veterans. Their tour included a demonstration of this therapy in action and gave the visitors a chance to interact with the veterans and gain first-hand knowledge of what Equine Therapy at Blue Star Ranch has meant to them.
Thank you to our Board of Supervisors, County of Los Angeles for your visit. Blue Star Ranch is an all-volunteer organization. All of our funding goes to providing our services free to our veterans and their families and providing for the care of our special therapy horses. We have no way to cut expenses, we are a bare bones operation.
If you would like to support Blue Star Ranch and our efforts to lower the suicide rate and divorce rate among our veterans, you can donate on-line at our website:
