City of Hope’s Virtual Walk to Raise Funds Support for Breast and Gynecological Cancers

by | Sep 30, 2020 | Community

City of Hope, a cancer research and treatment center in Duarte, will host its first-ever virtual Walk for Hope on Sunday, October 4, to find a cure for breast and gynecological cancers. The annual Walk for Hope began in 1997 and is the largest public event City of Hope produces – with approximately 12,000 attendees last year who raised about $1.6 million.
The world has changed, but the reasons why we walk have not. Join cancer survivors, their friends and family, medical professionals and supporters from across the country in the fight against breast and gynecological cancers. The virtual Walk for Hope offers a safe, fun and meaningful way for people to get out of the house, get some exercise and virtually engage with friends, family and other supporters.
Register and fundraise today at walkforhope.org. Be on the lookout for special announcements about ways to connect via social media, the wellness challenge, fundraising incentives and more. If cancer still exists, #WeStillWalk for Hope.
Generated funds will be used to support City of Hope’s breast and gynecologic cancer patients and survivors. City of Hope has the only Women’s Cancers Program in the country that offers a biopsychosocial approach to care. Our integrated team of professionals focuses not just on the disease but also on the biological, psychological and social factors that play a significant role in the lives of women battling cancer.
We are among the few women’s cancers programs in the country to routinely use HIPEC (heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy) to treat certain types of gynecological cancers. This treatment can greatly improve outcomes for patients with advanced disease.
City of Hope is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and a global leader in the advancement of research and treatment protocols. Cancer does not stop, and neither will City of Hope. To learn more, visit www.CityofHope.org.
