Two Events Benefitting SCV Relay For Life
As we know, cancer does not pause, even for a pandemic, and funds must continue to be raised for research, programs and services, even during a pandemic. Toward that end, volunteers from SCV Relay For Life are excited to host two events—a Holiday Boutique Fundraiser and an inaugural Drive-Through Luminaria Ceremony, both benefitting American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.
The Holiday Boutique will be held on Saturday November 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The United Methodist Church located at 26640 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus. Visitors are invited to get into the holiday spirit and find those perfect gifts for loved ones. The event will feature aisles of unique and hand-crafted clothing, blankets, jewelry, gift cards, home décor, kitchen couture, woodwork, Christmas decorations and more.
The event will adhere to COVID-19 guidelines to ensure the safety of guests. Booths will be spaced appropriately, both inside and outside on the patio. Protocols for masks, social distancing and one-way entrances and exits must be followed. It promises to be a delightful way to ring in the holiday season. For more information about the Holiday Boutique, contact Kathleen Pavard at 661-755-4468 or visit specialevents@scvrelay.org.
Each year, the Luminaria Ceremony proves to be one of the most inspirational parts of Relay For Life. Although an in-person Relay is not possible this year, volunteers have designed a Drive-Through Luminaria that will honor cancer patients and survivors while memorializing those who lost their lives to cancer.
The ceremony, sponsored by UCLA Health, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and Hello Auto Group among others, will be held at Hello Auto Group located at 24095 Creekside in Valencia on Sunday, October 11, from 5-8 p.m. From the safety of their vehicles, participants can view the decorated and lit Luminaria bags lining the route and drive through as many times as they wish. Luminaria bags can be purchased for $10 and decorated on Saturdays, 9/12 and 10/3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Discovery Shop on 26570-B Bouquet Canyon Rd. in Saugus. Luminarias can also be purchased online at www.SCVrelay.org and will be decorated by Relay For Life volunteers. For further information, contact Yvonne Salas at Luminaria@SCVRelay or call 805-750-5248.
