Unlock Future Opportunities at College of the Canyons
So much is unclear when it comes to our community’s continued recovery from the economic impact of the coronavirus. Unemployment remains high, and we don’t know when all the restrictions will be eased. But rather than dwell on what’s outside of our control, our focus at College of the Canyons is on helping our community move forward to unlock new opportunities to grow as we move forward.
We’re proud to host three events in October through our Career Center that promise to be particularly helpful for job seekers. Our annual Resume Rally will be held online 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 19 and 20. Community members can meet virtually with Career Center team members to create new resumes, and have current resumes critiqued. We’re also offering three “How to Land a Job at a Virtual Job Fair” workshops – 9 a.m. Oct. 21, 5 p.m. Oct. 22, and 10 a.m. Oct. 23 – which share success tips on what to do before, during and after a virtual job fair. Those two events lead up to our Online Job Fair, scheduled 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 27, 28, and 29. Learn more at cocjobfair.com
The School of Personal and Professional Learning (PPL) offers free classes to help you grow your career options. More than 20 different Career Skills courses can help job seekers stand out in a crowded field, including critical thinking, negotiation, personality styles, communication strategies and strategic job search. Courses start throughout October and November, can be completed in just a few weeks, and are offered online. More information can be found at https://www.canyons.edu/academics/schools/ppl/.
For those looking to launch or refocus their own business, College of the Canyons’ Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides high quality business assistance to entrepreneurs and start-ups. It offers no-cost advising in topics critical to the successful launch of a new business, including business planning, finance and accounting, leasing, incorporation, and website development. What happens next with the pandemic is anybody’s guess. And while we can’t predict the future, we can prepare for it and design our own opportunities. College of the Canyons is committed to doing just that. We’re ready to help you make the most of what comes next. Don’t hesitate – contact us today!
