Welcome La Nina Let’s Face the Winter with Clean Windows

by | Dec 23, 2020 | Home & Garden

The current La Nina weather pattern predicts a winter that is warmer and drier than desired. In fact, local rainfall is expected to be half of normal levels. Not terrific news for those concerned about an extended drought but great news for homeowners who normally opt out of winter window cleaning in fear that impending precipitation will mess-up their clean windows. I urge you to reconsider – cleaning your windows this winter makes sense for several reasons.
Windows enhance the beauty and function of any home. If you’ve priced windows recently, you understand the magnitude of this investment. To maximize life and utility, as a minimum, most window manufacturers recommend semi-annual window cleaning. These guidelines do not simply ensure homeowners a streak-free view of the world but the primary consideration is to protect the glass, the framing material, and the mechanism from decay and compromised function.
Dirty windows filter the sun’s ability to heat your home in cooler months. It is easy to understand how the exterior environment (moisture, dust, pollutants, plant, animal & insect residue) coat window exteriors. Less considered and less obvious are window interiors. Summer and winter, our HVAC systems bombard interior glass with household dust (and we all know what’s in that!), pet dander, airborne kitchen vapor, fireplace ash, bacteria, etc. When windows are closed, these contaminants continue to accumulate. The dirt on the outside is easy to see. The inside dirt is less obvious and, in some cases, more concerning from a health perspective.
Window Genie offers both interior and exterior window cleaning specials. Our COVID precautions are intended to help you feel comfortable with having our Technicians in your home. If you prefer, we offer contactless exterior only window cleaning services. Please call us for our COVID precautionary details, for a free no-obligation estimate, or to book your window cleaning appointment.
