Our “Best Mother’s Day” Contest Winner!
We, at the Santa Clarita Magazine, are pleased to share an entry from a loving husband, Joshua Berrios. Joshua wrote:
My wife AnneMarie Rivera Berrios is a Special Education Teacher and is a person who always puts herself before others. She kept a positive attitude during tough times and is the strongest person I know. She lost two babies several years ago, which caused her pain but she never gave up. In January 2020 we found out she was pregnant with a baby boy. March 2020 during the pandemic she got very sick and was hospitalized and almost died. During this time she stayed by her students teaching remotely every single day putting their needs first. Joshua Jr., was born prematurely on June 12, 2020 at just 28 weeks weighing 1 pound 1 oz. Our son spent 121 days in the NICU and AnneMarie was at the hospital every single day with him. When her school returned in person at the start of the school year she went back full time and again put her students before herself because bills built up and they needed to be paid so she kept going. She went to work every day then ran home to shower then went to the hospital never giving herself one minute meanwhile breastfeeding. Our son is now home and healthy. My wife is a hero and our son is a warrior. She hasn’t had time to herself, enjoy a good meal, have a vacation to Disney as we have in past years, or do well needed renovations to the kitchen or front porch. She truly deserves something special. Anything that could show how special she is.
