Relay For Life Scavenger Hunt
The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life is a community of like-minded volunteers, caregivers, survivors and participants who believe in working toward a future that is free from cancer. For over 35 years, it has funded vital research, life-saving screenings and programs to support cancer patients. Because of the pandemic, our community fundraising might look different right now, but our passion to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer is unchanged.
This year, the American Cancer Society has designated May 14 and 15 as National Relay Weekend. In observance of this, Relay For Life of SCV is planning its kickoff event, a city-wide scavenger hunt, on Saturday, May 15 from Noon to 3:00 p.m. Rather than a traditional scavenger hunt, this is a hunt for locations around Santa Clarita that hold significance to our local Relay For Life organization.
In order to participate, individuals must register for Relay and will be automatically registered for the Scavenger Hunt. To register go to SCVRelay.org and click “Join this Relay.” Registered participants will receive their first scavenger hunt clue via email. They will solve the clue to find the scavenger hunt’s starting point. At the first location, they will be given a scavenger hunt passport and a clue in the form of a riddle to locate the next destination. When they solve the riddle and arrive at that location, a volunteer will mark the passport and give them the next clue. The final location will be a restaurant so participants can enjoy a late lunch or a refreshing drink. At the final location, passports will be checked and those that are fully completed will be awarded a prize.
This year’s Relay theme is “No Space for Cancer” so each location will be inspired by a planet, the sun or the moon. Come and enjoy a fun day that will be out of this world! Get involved with Relay while still maintaining safety protocols. Contribute to this vital fundraising event to help ensure that American Cancer Society’s programs are sustainable. When we rally together in the fight against cancer, we can accomplish anything.
