IN MEMORIAM Adele Elaine Macpherson May 27, 1946 – August 8, 2021

Adele Macpherson was born in Sale, England on May 27, 1946 to Bill and May Burns. She graduated from Sale High school and later graduated with a degree in podiatry and received her medical assistant certification.
Adele was the former Community Services Superintendent and Emergency Coordinator for the City of Santa Clarita, and volunteer to numerous organizations. she passed away on August 8, 2021 in Santa Clarita after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana. She was an avid field hockey player in her youth and enjoyed traveling.
Her love for volunteering started at the Vocational Technical Institute of Kirkland, WA. From there, she committed to volunteering with several local organizations including, American Red Cross; Samuel Dixon Family Health Center; Zonta Club of the Santa Clarita Valley; School-to-Business Alliance; SCV Boys and Girls Club; United Way; Santa Clarita Child and Family Center; and the Daughters of the British Empire.
During the 1994 Northridge earthquake, she lovingly became known as “the Disaster Lady” and helped the community persevere and rebuild after the quake. In 2002, she was honored as the Santa Clarita Valley’s Woman of the Year, for her dedication to the community. In July of 2021, the Santa Clarita City Council presented her with a key to the City of Santa Clarita in honor of her work in the community over the past several decades.
Adele is survived by her husband, Iain, Santa Clarita; daughters, Kirstie (Alan) Zacharias and Fiona (Chase) Bracco, Modesto, CA; her sister Rena (David) Hobbs, Crowthorne, England; beloved grandchildren, Cole, Reese, Elin and Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and May (Truelove) Burns.
