World Clean Up Month

by | Sep 29, 2021 | Community

Junkluggers turned World Cleanup Day into World Cleanup Month! We did this through the focused effort of nearly 100 franchises across the country, all with a shared interest in doing the right thing for their community.
At a national level, we partnered with One Tree Planted to have a tree planted for every job completed between 9/12 and 9/18. These trees will help remove thousands of pounds of CO2 every year. Our fellow franchisees hosted large scale e-waste events, community clean ups, and educational events.
Right here in Santa Clarita, we were contacted by Cal Arts to help dispose of a mountain of old dormitory cabinets and furniture. It was important to them that we try to keep this out of the landfill. With only a few days to prepare, we reached out to our network of donation partners. Not only did we complete the job on time and on budget, but we were also able to donate, re-use, and recycle 17 tons of wooden cabinets and storage boxes. I am proud that we were able to do this on short notice and it was a great way to start World Clean Up Month!
We also showed our support for a local group that has done an amazing job of cleaning up Bouquet Canyon Falls. This is a beautiful spot enjoyed by local hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The group volunteers their time and talents to clear brush, remove graffiti, and clear dams to keep the water flowing and wildlife thriving. We have consistently provided them with tools to support their work. This month, we stepped it up to help them raise one thousand dollars for a lawn tractor for bigger projects.
