A Note From the Publishers – December 2021
What, it’s December already and we are all ready for the holidays, or are we? Doesn’t 2021 seem to have flown by, and isn’t it wonderful to feel some normalcy after two years of craziness? We are really looking forward to the holidays this year and there is no question that we will feel comfortable getting together with our families and friends as we count our blessings that we are fortunate enough to have a roof over our heads and a safe place to gather. With that said, we are so happy to support two great organizations on our cover this month. Bridge to Home is a local organization that provides help, hope, and change for people who are experiencing homelessness in the Santa Clarita Valley. Their premier event, Soup for the Soul will take place on December 4. Shawn Parr, host of the nationally syndicated country music radio show Shawn Parr’s Across the Country will once again host the virtual event, and this is your opportunity to give back and change lives! Visit their website www.btohome.org for more information. Our second group of individuals on the cover are the elves of JCI Santa Clarita or, Santa’s Helpers who are looking for unwrapped toys and gifts for underprivileged children in the Santa Clarita Valley. Want to get involved? They are looking for volunteers and sponsorships are available for this great cause. Visit www.SantasHelpersSCV.com for more information.
Looking for something to do with the family? Check out the calendar of events at Westfield during December, get a picture with your favorite pooch or enjoy the SC International Film Festival which will feature comedy and music and so much more see page 28 for more details. Santa Clarita Christian Fellowship is hoping to see you at their Christmas Eve event, there will be literally tons of snow, carolers, free snacks and lots of goodies, build a snowman with the kids, and enjoy the live nativity scenes and displays. You can call Pastor Julius Harper to let him know you will be joining them 661-298-8189, see page 39 for more information. Save the date December 11, for the first in-person holiday show at the Performing Arts Center. Enjoy The Joy of Christmas which will surely get you in the holiday mood! Gilchrist Farm will be celebrating their Holiday Hoedown throughout the month of December, with horse and rider parades, live music, food and treats, including photographs with Santa Claus see more on page 44.
It’s hard to believe that we, Prime Publications, Inc., have published the Santa Clarita Magazine for 32-years and SCV élite Magazine for the past 20 years. We have been at the helm of media and marketing, utilizing our platform to keep our valley’s small businesses and non-profit achievements and developments in the public eye. What began as Mistletoe and Holly, a Christmas magazine, quickly became the go-to publication known as The Magazine of Santa Clarita and now as Santa Clarita Magazine. It has been our pleasure to serve our community and to hopefully make a difference. Every month we have dedicated our cover to local non-profit organizations to bring awareness to their events that raise money for those in need. We created our own fundraiser event, SCV Dancing With Our Stars, that has raised over $1.5 million for local non-profits. We are very much a family publication, with our son Alexander following in our footsteps and being involved with numerous organizations. We are so proud of his accomplishments and his desire to one day take over the business that we established when he was just 2-years-old. We are happy to be in business and attribute our success to the continuous support of our advertisers, because without them there would not be a magazine. We want to send them a huge thank you for making the last 32-years such a magnificent ride and we look forward to serving our valley for years to come.
Our December/January issue of élite Magazine is out, and we are pleased to feature our Ladies in Business Winners for 2021. Our cover this month is extra special and features local businesswoman Barbara Myler, Owner of Summit West Public Relations, Barbara has been responsible for the Valencia Jazz & Blues Concert Series for the past 20 plus years, a little bird tells us that it just might be back in 2022 and we can’t wait! If you are not getting your copy of élite Magazine, please subscribe on-line at www.scvelitemagazine.com.
We wish you all a very Happy Holiday Season and a Happy New Year, we will see you in 2022.
