Circle of Hope Cancer Support Center Awarded Non Profit Organization Of The Year

by | Nov 3, 2021 | Community

The Circle of Hope Cancer Support Center has been given the distinct honor of being awarded Non Profit Organization of the Year for California’s 21st Senate District. Senator Scott Wilk made the presentation to the organization in August at the organizations signature fundraising event, Vine 2 Wine. “It was an honor to be presented this award by Senator Wilk and to honor our organization this way”, stated Alexander Hafizi, Chairman of the Board for Circle of Hope. “And to be able to accept this award at one of our events with our supporters, donors and Board of Directors present means a lot”.
This award is presented annually in California’s 21st Senate District. “Circle of Hope is dedicated to improving the lives of cancer patients in Santa Clarita Valley through wellness programs, support groups, and financial support. My lovely wife Vanessa and my son, Scott, have been beneficiaries of their amazing services”, said Senator Scott Wilk. “A huge thank you to the passionate, caring, and hard-working staff and founder Colleen Shaffer. As a cancer survivor her-self, Colleen saw a need to help uplift the lives of cancer patients. She and her hardworking staff step-up every day and make a tremendous difference for our friends and neighbors struggling with cancer. This was especially impactful during the pandemic when so many of our traditional support systems were changed. For these positive contributions to our community, I am pleased to name Circle of Hope as Senate District 21’s Nonprofit of the Year”.
Circle of Hope Cancer Support Center provides emotional, educational and financial assistance as well as supportive wellness therapies to the Santa Clarita Valley cancer community. The organization is available to all those living with cancer, cancer survivors, their families, caregivers and all those affected by cancer. All services, programs and classes are provided completely free of charge.
“As what started as a vision of hope 17 years ago by our founder Colleen Shaffer, the Circle of Hope Cancer Support Center has grown to serve thousands in our community affected by cancer”, says Laura Kirchhoff, Executive Director of Circle of Hope. “It is such an honor to be recognized by Senator Wilk for the work and services we offer to those with cancer. Through a challenging last year, we continued to serve our community because stopping or slowing down was just not an option. The Circle of Hope Cancer Support Center is the organization it is today because of the people who have been dedicated to the organization for the last 17 years. From the donors and supporters, volunteers, practitioners and facilitators, dedicated men and women that served this organization on our board of directors as well as the devoted and committed staff, Circle of Hope is able to give those with cancer the help and assistance they need. We will continue to grow and be here for our community for years to come until the day there is a cure.”
