Grateful He is My Rock
In 1620 passengers aboard the Mayflower landed at what is now called Plymouth Rock. Many believe the boulder is the actual stone where pilgrims set foot as they left the ship.
Whether it’s the actual rock or not, we can imagine the relief the travelers would have felt as they stepped onto a sturdy landing after enduring a long journey across the ocean.
We all need a “rock” in our lives – someone who is there for us, that person who can steady us on life’s journey. We are grateful for a parent, sibling, a mentor or friend who is always willing to help.
We can also be confident that God is our ultimate rock. He has a plan in place for us and will help us through life. In Psalm 18, David wrote “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me”. He penned the passage with such confidence because God had rescued him out of danger many times. David faced enemies who tried to stamp out his purpose and even take his life. No person was able to save him, only the God.
As we enter the holiday season let’s remember to acknowledge and give thanks that God is our rock. We can rely on Him to rescue us no matter how small or big our situation. I encourage you to read Psalm 18:1. Say the words out loud and with confidence. When we say it, God has to be it in our lives
David gave thanks. The pilgrims gave thanks. Their journeys were not easy, yet they were grateful. Let’s show our gratitude.
