SCV Relay Starts the New Year Strong

January is a month of renewal and fresh starts, and the American Cancer Society is renewing its commitment to making a difference in the world. ACS is beginning the New Year with two important events. So save the dates, put on the purple t-shirts, and get ready to Relay!
The 2022 Relay For Life National Kickoff event will be held virtually on January 4, 2022, at 6 p.m. PST. Relayers around the globe will join together to launch this year’s Relay For Life movement.
Those watching will learn about research and programs which were funded from donations raised in 2021. More than $172,000 was raised in Santa Clarita Valley last year, making a significant impact on the fight to end cancer. Volunteers will also learn about upcoming national plans for 2022. This Kickoff Event is a way to get energized and think about how to contribute to the goal of a world without cancer. RSVP at www.facebook.com/RelayForLife and join the live event.
The second event is the Relay For Life First Lap (#RelayFirstLap) which will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022. This is an opportunity for community members to publicly share a commitment to this year’s Relay For Life by taking their #RelayFirstLap. Toward that end, the Santa Clarita chap-ter of the American Cancer Society is asking everyone in the community to go outside and take a walk, marking their first lap. Whether alone, with friends and family, or Relay teammates, film the walk as a video or photo and post it on social media using the hashtag #RelayFirstLap and tag @SCVRelay to participate.
Participants are also encouraged to tag a friend in their post and challenge them to take their #Re-layFirstLap as well.
