Operation School Bell® – Assistance League
“I had to come over and thank the Assistance League. You helped my kids at a time when we needed help. It was a rough time, and we are doing better now. But I will never forget how Assistance League helped my kids. Thank you for all you do!” This mother described Operation School Bell’s powerful impact on the lives of her children and her family.
Operation School Bell, Assistance League® of Santa Clarita’s signature program, supports student success by providing clothing and shoes for needy students. Member volunteers strongly believe that children perform better in school with a positive self-image. For most school-age students, being able to dress like everyone else is an important component of that self-image.
Beginning in September, over 1500 students in grades TK—12 who attend schools in the Santa Clarita Valley will be aided by member volunteers during scheduled shopping days at JC Penney. Students are referred to Assistance League by their schools and invited to participate in designated shopping days to shop for new school clothing and shoes. Assistance League of Santa Clarita member volunteers are on hand to assist the children and their families with their purchases.
Operation School Bell also provides free eye exams and glasses through the icare for kids program. Students are referred by their school, eye exams are conducted and glasses are provided. This service gives students the priceless gift of clear vision as they strive to succeed in school.
Sales from Assistance League’s resale store and community donations provide the funds for Operation School Bell and support our mission of Transforming Lives•Strengthening Community.
When you shop at the Resale Store or donate to Assistance League of Santa Clarita, you impact the lives of our community’s children, families, and young adults.
