A. Allbright Painting’s $7,500 Charity Paint Giveaway Event
Dan and Karen Allan of Castaic are the Recipients of the 5th Annual Event
In the 2000 hit movie ”Pay It Forward,” a young boy was given a social studies assignment to come up with an idea that will improve mankind and to put his idea into action. He came up with the notion of instead of paying favors back; we should “pay favors forward” by doing three good deeds for someone who would in turn “pay it forward,” and so forth. His idea resulted in creating positive changes in his life and the lives of an ever-widening circle of people completely unknown to him.
Your Opinion Matters Now More Than Ever
It was a shock and to some, upsetting, when graduation ceremonies for Hart District 8th graders were canceled. However, I hope it was an eye-opener to many of the critical state our school districts are in because of budget cuts. For those who were outraged by this move, please take a deeper look and interest into what is happening to our schools.

As always, there are a whole host of great community events aimed at keeping you active and involved in your community. Two of my favorites in May include the annual SCV Dodger Day event and the Relay for Life event.

College of the Canyons Star Party Aims at Saturn
The name has a lot of meanings. To some, Saturn is the Roman God of Agriculture. To others, Saturn is a much-beloved, but now-defunct, car company. But most everyone knows Saturn as one of the most interesting and mysterious planets in our solar system.
Honoring Those Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice
Memorial Day. It’s a day celebrated on the last Monday in May, where we honor and commemorate United States men and women who died while serving for our country and for the very freedoms we enjoy today. It’s a day of remembering, and should not go unnoticed.
On Monday, May 31, at 10 a.m., the distinct sounds of the Condor Squadron aircraft will fly overhead as thousands of Santa Clarita Valley residents adorned in red white and blue will gather around to commence the 22nd annual Tribute to Veterans, honoring American Veterans and active military.

Form a team and walk for a cure. Each team consists of 10 to 24 walkers, who each pledge to raise a minimum of $100 and take shifts to walk for a duration of the 24-hour event, having at least one member of each team on the track at all times.

Get Up
On the first Sunday of April, people all over the world will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The resurrection not only gives us hope as far as our relationship with God is concerned, but it gives us hope in our everyday lives. If the truth be told, as long as we are on this side of heaven we can all use some hope. With life getting increasingly difficult as the days go on, hope is a much needed and welcomed motivator.
Real Life Church Comes Home
After five years of planning, building, and finishing, Real Life Church will open its brand new facility in April 2010. Real Life Church began in October of 2000 in the Edwards Cinemas in Town Center. Church services, nursery, and children’s programs were held in four separate movie theaters every Sunday morning until October of 2007 when we made the move to West Ranch High School. Since then, every Sunday morning crews of people come in starting at 4:30 a.m. to set up chairs, staging, lights, sound, and children’s rooms, all to host over 1,500 people in three services. Around 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon, everything is taken down and stored until the next week. Needless to say, we are excited to have a place to call home!
