Community Comes Together for White Ribbon Week
Annual Event Promotes Safe Driving Among Teens and Graduating Seniors
The City of Santa Clarita, Frontier Toyota, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department, Safe Rides, the Signal and the Blue Ribbon Task force will team up for the annual White Ribbon Week and Drive Safe Program, which is designed to teach teens and graduating seniors about safe driving. The event began on Thursday, May 28 and will continue through Friday, June 5th, which is when all local high schools hold graduation ceremonies.

Something for Every-Bawdy at the Canyon Theatre Guild
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum came to the Canyon Theatre Guild’s stage on May 23 for a six-weekend run. Forum was inspired by the farces of an ancient Roman playwright, Plautus, and tells the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master, Hero, woo the girl next door.

Summer’s the Season to Celebrate 10 Years of the Santa Clarita Master Chorale
Come June, you’ll have two chances to saddle up and git along to songs from the wild, wild West. The Santa Clarita Master Chorale marks its 10th anniversary with a special performance in the venue where it all began, Saturday evening, June 6, at 8 p.m. at the Valencia United Methodist Church and then on Sunday, June 7 at 3:30 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons.
Assistance League Celebrates 20 Years in the SCV
Assistance League of Santa Clarita held their 20th Anniversary Luncheon, May 9 at the Tournament Players Club Valencia. Sandy Woodford-Bregman and Mamie Kosaka co-chaired the anniversary luncheon. Guest Speaker Anne Salenger, National Historian of Assistance League, gave a history of Assistance League and the local Santa Clarita Chapter.
In Loving Memory of Ron Murphy
December 11, 1949 – May 13, 2009
After a five year courageous battle with cancer, Ron Murphy is now at peace. He faced his disease head on as he did his life. After various clinical trials and surgeries he did all that he could without complaint and has now surrendered peacefully to the Lord with his family surrounding him Wednesday night, May 13, 2009.

Hart’s Dance Team Makes It to the Arena
For the very first time in their six short years of existence, Hart High’s talented Dance Team made it to the USA National Dance Competition Finals and won second place for their colorful Bollywood style “character” dance. It is truly amazing how far this team has come in such a short length of time.
Broadway Bound The Lincolns of Springfield World Premier in Santa Clarita
The Lincolns of Springfield, is a sumptuous musical play about the lives of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln. Especially with all the rekindling of interest in Abraham Lincoln and that this year, 2009, is the 200th anniversary of Mr. Lincoln’s birth, this is the perfect time for this play. The Lincolns of Springfield score is rich with wonderful melodies and memorable songs. It is a show that can be can enjoyed by the entire family with touching expressions of familial love, rich with great Lincoln-esque humor, and a mesmerizing rendition of American history of as profound importance today as it was at the time of the Civil War. Performance dates are June 12 and 13. This production is preparing for a national tour and professionally runs in several major cities. This is every Santa-Claritans chance to brag, “We saw it first!”
