Under the direction of maestro Robert Lawson, The Santa Clarita Symphony performed their opening Masterpiece concert at College of the Canyons’ Performing Arts Center on November 11. The talented group of 75 professional musicians, many who live locally and perform with many nationally recognized orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic wowed the audience with rich tones of strings, brass and woodwinds.
The exhilarating season opener featured soloist Armen Anassian who performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto and Sibelius’ majestic Symphony no. 2. Coming up next will be the Family Concert: “Storytelling” on Sunday, January 28 as part of the Symphony’s family concert series featuring the 1001 Nights of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade and Prokofiev’s perennial favorite Peter and the Wolf.
