After their eighth successful year of delivering singing telegrams, the Madrigal Singers of Canyon High School are again offering the ultimate in a Valentine’s Day experience for that special person to whom you wish to express your devotion. The award-winning vocalists will serenade your sweetheart and present him or her with a delectable edible rose made by our local Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!
Each Sweetheart Serenade also includes a Valentine card complete with photo of your special someone seated in the “Sweetheart Chair of Honor” surrounded by the entire 24-piece CHS Madrigals choral ensemble! Clad in their formal wear of tuxes and gowns, the singers will deliver their a capella renditions on February 13 and 14, to almost any site of your choosing within the Santa Clarita Valley. In years past, the singers have traveled to various places including private homes, businesses and even retirement homes. At just $100 for the whole package, a Sweetheart Serenade makes an impressive, unique and momentous Valentine gift for that special person in your life.
The Canyon High School Madrigal Singers offer the highest quality of voices heard in our valley. They are often seen and heard around town singing at various public, charity, and private events throughout the SCV. With the help of their director, Mrs. Mary Purdy, they bring a professional perfection to all of their performances.
Mrs. Purdy has been teaching choral music for over 29 years. Her impressive list of musical credentials includes former direction of the Santa Clarita Master Chorale, past president of the Southern California Vocal Association, vice president of the California Association for Music Educators, Director of the Northridge Singers at CSUN and much more!
Funds raised by the Sweetheart Serenades are applied to the students’ yearly festival tour in April. This year their tour will take them to Chicago. Past tours have included San Francisco, New York City, British Columbia, Colorado, Boston and Washington DC , where they have represented the City of Santa Clarita with great style and award-winning performances.
