New Year’s Resolutions.  Most of us make them; yet few of us actually follow through on them.  We all have grandiose plans to lose weight and get out of debt, yet in reality, we somehow fall off track with our daily lives.

A few years back, our family was offered an extravagant vacation from my grandmother as a present.  We pleaded with her to let us forego the vacation and use the money to pay off a credit card.  She refused, saying that after reflecting on her 80 years of life, her greatest joy, memories and accomplishments were not from succeeding at work, losing weight, or paying off her bills; but rather the quality time she spent with her family and friends.

This year, while we may all want to shed those few extra pounds that never go away, why don’t we try and spend our time and money where it will mean the most — our families.  We all get so wrapped up in our day-to-day grind, that we barely have an hour together with our kids and spouses.  Try setting aside family time to go the park, play games or take a class together.

Gymboree has several “Parent and Me” classes to enjoy that little time we have with our young children.  Not only will it be quality time together bonding, your child will also be enhancing their physical, mental and social development.  We also offer sibling classes for Parents with more than one child and have several Open Play Gyms for families to play together in a fun, developmentally appropriate environment.

We are having a Grand Re-Opening January 22 to 27 where anyone is welcome to try as many different classes as they’d like — play, art, music or baby signs, for free.

This would be a great place to start a New Year’s Resolution that you will actually be able to keep and will create lasting memories for your family.  I encourage you to call and sign up your family for some free classes right away!
