If Timothy Ben Boydston’s Canyon High School teachers were asked about the Santa Clarita native, they’d probably glow with pride.  That’s because Boydston has been given a seat on the prestigious City Council, a seat vacated by Cameron Smyth after he was recently sworn in to serve on the Assembly.  He will fill out the term for Smyth, which expires in April, 2008.

Boydston has been a strong advocate of life in the Valley.

“I want people to know that the community is getting more than just an artist with me.  I have lived in this community over 30 years and I was raised here, I attended Canyon High and College of the Canyons.  I want people to know that I have a broad background.  I have owned my own business and I have worked in the real estate field and I love this community!” exclaimed Councilmember Boydston.
Boydston currently serves as the Executive and Artistic Director for the Canyon Theatre Guild.  He also serves on the Santa Clarita Valley Arts Advisory Committee.  He holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Northridge and an associate degree in medical technology.  Boydston also served in the Air Force for four years.  Him and his wife of 14 years, Ingrid have a five-year-old daughter, Analyn.

Ken Pulskamp, the City Manager said, “We are very excited to welcome Tim Ben to our City Family and to the Santa Clarita City Council.”
