Women Entrepreneurs of Santa Clarita Valley (WE of SCV) recently held the 2006 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award Luncheon. The award was developed to recognize the outstanding contributions that the members have made to the organization and to the Santa Clarita Valley. Organization founder, Tera McHugh says, ”We have so many amazing women in our group and I really wanted to do something to honor them for all they contribute to the group and to our community”.
The 130-member organization selected the nominees based on the following criteria: Outstanding business growth and development in 2006, Contributions to the Santa Clarita Valley Community and positive impact to the WE of SCV organization and its membership. DeAnne Joy of Success Tracks took home the prestigious award. Joy is a Master Practitioner and Certified Trainer of Neuro-Linguistics (NLP), Academic and Life Mastery Coach, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) practitioner with specialized experience and training in learning challenges and helping struggling students. She is a member of Zonta International, expanded her business in 2006 and has become a sought after speaker and leader in the community. The other nominees were: Martha Shickley, Dream Dinners; Carrie Kish, Healing Waters; Sandra Lopez, J&M Entertainment and Brittany Applen, Tidbits.
WE of SCV, a business development group for women, meets the third Thursday of every month to educate, encourage and inspire women business owners. Events are designed to help attendees increase wealth, gain new skills for success, be surrounded by high-energy women and make a positive difference in the community. Each month a keynote speaker shares their experience and expertise on topics that interest women business owners. Chellie Campbell, author of The Wealthy Spirit and Zero to Zillionaire, was awarded the 2006 Speaker of the Year Award.
The month of February marks the organization’s one-year anniversary.
“WE of SCV has come so far in one year, and would not be where we are as a group without the contributions of the women nominated for the 2006 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award,” says McHugh.
