Amid tears of joy, the 2006-2007 Silver Rose Debutantes honored their moms with gifts, and sentimental words of love and praise during the Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital Guild’s annual Mother Daughter Tea held at the Valencia Summit Club House on February 11. The event was just one of many that the young women have participated since becoming Debs in 2006.
As in years past, the annual tea gave the young women a chance to speak candidly from their hearts. Throughout the ceremony there was not a dry eye in the house as the girls shared fond memories and special thanks to their moms.
The twenty-four young women will be formally presented to society in grand style at the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Guild’s 21st Annual Silver Rose Debutante Ball set to be held on Saturday, March 3 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City.
The black-tie gala is the culminating event of the 2006-2007-debutante season. The debutantes will be escorted by midshipmen from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. and will dance to a specially-choreographed “Grand Waltz” with their fathers, a memorable occasion cherished by fathers and daughters alike. The Silver Rose Debutantes for 2006/2007 are Brittany Tippett, Rebecca Schuerger, Haley Rebel, Samantha Knudsen, Amy Baumgartner, Jessica Baldi, Chantell Borruel, Jessica Kriske, Alyssa Loverro, Sarah Mitchell, Joanne Montoya, Valerie Neyer, Tessa Pate, Samantha Prichard, Marissa Velasquez, Lauren Greenberg, Rita Caso, Carly Robertson, Ashley Shoener, Danielle Slakoff, Caite McClure, Kaitly Hollister, Brigitte Graham, and Veronica Palazzola.
The Silver Rose Debutante Program was established in 1985 by the hospital Guild and provides young women with opportunities to volunteer in the community.
